Popular sub-brow lift among middle-aged people: Simultaneous aesthetic and functional improvement

SH Plastic Surgery

Aging affects all parts of the body, but the skin is the most significantly impacted.

With aging, elasticity decreases and sagging occurs; in particular, drooping eyelids are a factor that makes one look older.

Furthermore, it narrows the field of vision, leading to decreased eyesight, and causes eyelashes to poke the mucous membrane and surrounding skin, resulting in tearing or skin irritation.

This is why many middle-aged and older adults undergo surgery.

Those concerned with deep wrinkles consider procedures focusing on the eyes and mouth, such as upper blepharoplasty, lower blepharoplasty, brow lifts, and facelifts.

Among them, the sub-brow lift is an eyelid ptosis surgery that helps improve both the function and aesthetics of the eyes at once.

Experts say that because it raises the eyelid itself, it provides an eye-shaping correction effect, resulting in a clearer, more defined impression.

According to Dr. Kim Sung-hoon, head director of SH Plastic Surgery, the sub-brow lift is a representative anti-aging and middle-aged eye plastic surgery.

By correcting sagging eyelids, it adds definition to the eyes, and by removing sagging tissues, it creates a smooth and firm eye contour.

A sub-brow lift involves making an incision near the eyebrow to remove sagging skin and lift the muscle.

The skin tissue and muscle are then anchored to the periosteum and sutured. Because the incision is made right under the eyebrow, scars are barely visible and

recovery is fast. It is also possible for individuals without double eyelids.

Dr. Kim explains, "Even when you want to maintain your existing double eyelid line and only improve eyelid sagging, surgery can be selectively performed on the troubled area alone."

Even if the skin is thick and firm, it can be transformed into a natural, refreshed eye appearance.

A sub-brow lift can also be considered for ptosis symptoms, where people open their eyes using their forehead muscles due to weakened eyelid muscles.

By firmly securing the muscle to the periosteum, one can open the eyes with their original muscular strength, naturally helping to prevent forehead wrinkles and

restore the original function of the eyelids.

A sub-brow lift also requires a personalized, customized approach.

Dr. Kim advises, "Because age, the presence of double eyelids, and eyelid thickness and degree of sagging vary from person to person, the surgical outcomes may differ."

He adds, "One should establish a surgical plan through a customized design after consulting with an experienced medical specialist."
